Before we developed our temperature control systems, semiconductor manufacture was a hit-and-miss proposition. Volatile gases used in fabrication processes were greatly affected by changes in ambient temperature. Gases need to be at a certain pressure and in a particular vaporous state in order to control the process quality. The manufacturing conditions were unpredictable, quality and process control was a constant, often expensive challenge.
